Growing as writers

This week the students worked on name flip books.  The book has a flip up page for each letter of a student's name. Under each flap, the student illustrated and labeled an object with the same initial letter sound as that letter in his/her name.  Below are a few wonderful examples of their work.  I am so excited to start working with these young writers and help them develop the imaginative ideas they already have!

A Favorite Day!!

Today is one of my favorite days in first grade - Meet the Teacher day!  In just a few short hours this year's new students will walk through my doorway and explore their new classroom for the first time!  It will be a place where they feel safe and loved.  They will make many great friends and  oh, so many memories of their favorite days in first in first grade.  I CAN'T WAIT!!

2018-19 Here we come!!

Mrs. Candelaria and I are getting ready for our new Kiker Comet first graders!  We are so excited that we were selected to use new Presentation systems in our classrooms this year!  Our Comets are going to LOVE the fun activities we are planning with these systems.  We LOVE technology and using it in our classroom!
